Transporte Mariposa es una serie de ilustraciones para la convocatorio Iberoamérica Ilustra 2021. Todo el concepto tiene origen en una leyenda purépecha y mazahua en la que se cuenta que "muchos creen que la llegada de las mariposas monarca en otoño se debe a que son las almas de las ánimas o los difuntos. Recordemos que los animalitos llegan en octubre y la celebración de Día de Muertos es a finales de este mes y principios de noviembre.

Esta creencia proviene de las culturas purépecha y mazahua. Incluso, en varias regiones del Estado de México y Michoacán reciben a las mariposas monarcas con ofrendas de cera y copal.

Otra variante de esta leyenda cuenta que los muertos viajan en las alas de los insectos para llegar a los altares.

En la cultura maya, las mariposas monarcas simbolizaban a los guerreros fallecidos en batalla o sacrificios. Según esta historia, estos héroes acompañaban durante cuatro años al dios sol antes de llegar al inframundo. Después, su alma se transformaba en los animalitos voladores.

Algunas personas dicen que si quieres pedir un deseo, puedes susurrárselo a una mariposa y entregarle su libertad, pues ‘ella, agradecida, con tu deseo volará y la alegría y el amor te llegarán."
